Summertime in Wisconsin is a great time to get your Harley out and go for a ride. One of the great summertime activities for people who own motorcycle is to partake in poker runs and rallies. Gather your friends, gear up the bikes, and hit the open road.
Each year there are tons of sponsored poker runs around the state. These poker runs also include food, music, drinks and prizes. In Wisconsin many runs start at a bar and proceed to other bars, with a final destination holding the music, food, raffles, and door prizes. The travel during the ride and the return trip home can become hazardous if drinking is involved. Although riders are not required to make all the pit stops, part of the fun is riding with other people with similar interests. Some may think that one drink won’t “do anything,” but that is not always the case. Others may think they can drink more because they are passengers and not actually driving. This can also be dangerous. If a passenger becomes too drunk to hold on, or passes out, there is a possibility they may fall off the bike.

If this is the position you have been caught in, Attorney Nathan J. Dineen is a certified OWI Defense Attorney in Wisconsin.
Please enjoy the summer Poker Runs! If you are out all day having drinks, remember to keep hydrated with water and eat food. Remember to think before you drink and ride safely!
